Get your school found online through SEOSearch Engine Optimisation (SEO) has been around for about 25 years, with the goal always being to rank as high on search engine results pages as possible. As more and more schools realise the power of SEO, the competition is becoming cutthroat.

You’ll know that the top search results get the most click-throughs. So, if your school can’t be found when someone is searching for what your school offers, how are you going to survive in the new world of online business?

Here are 6 tips to get your school found online through SEO:

1. Content Marketing
Everyone knows that content marketing is the magic bullet for SEO. Content marketing can be in the form of blogs, articles, ebooks, podcasts or webinars. Make sure your content is loaded with relevant keywords, which will be typed when someone is looking for what your school offers.

2. Be seen
Work on being seen in organic searches rather than in paid content. You will get more clicks from organic searches than paid content, so take your existing content and repurpose it and post it on your blog. It is a great channel for event information and direct communication with prospective parents. Think about the type of information that is helpful and solves problems. Cover school-specific news, not information specific to your school. Avoid sales-y language and focus on providing really interesting information that potential parents can learn from and use. 

3. Optimise keywords
Investigate the keywords and phrases that parents are actually using when they think of a school and find long-tail keywords within your content that you can use to improve your SEO strategy.

4. Increase activity on social media
Search isn't the only way to deliver visitors to your website. Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are a great way to increase your reach. Don't forget to make it easy for people to share your content by placing social media buttons prominently near your content. 

5. Check analytics
Keep a regular check on your data by comparing web pages, following site traffic and evaluating keyword performance.

6. Create well structured landing pages
Keep your landing pages succinct and to the point. Customise the content to your target audience and offer valuable information for prospective parents.
