3 ways podcasting can generate enrolments for your school

Posted by Melinda Webster

Podcasting for your school Podcasting is a great way to shake up your content marketing and position your school as a thought leader in education. Parents, current and prospective, won’t always have time to read your school blog posts or newsletter articles, but an audio option intensifies your reach by offering another media platform. Parents can even absorb your podcasts on their commute to work or while doing household chores. Strategy-wise, you should aim to create a strong podcast series that addresses relevant topics and provides valuable insights, to form part of a content marketing program that creates trust and generates excitement within your school. It’s also an opportunity to showcase your passion for education and reveal the ‘heart’ behind your school.

  1. Shed light on new educational trends
Parents rarely have the time to explore the myriad of opinions and facts on new learning methods and teaching practices. Here lies your chance – do it for them and do it well. Create a quality script for your podcast that reflects thorough research on educational topics and provides a significant insight. Build trust and educate parents with content that is relevant, interesting and can enhance their child’s learning. Homework, for example, is an important topic that concerns many parents. A podcast discussing the reasons for and benefits of homework and how parents can implement processes at home to nurture their child’s learning are effective.

  2. Feature guest speakers
People are interested in people, so have a conversation. You can create a dynamic podcast series featuring a range of teaching professionals to discuss current teaching trends and their impact on education. Ask your guests questions that share their knowledge and that help tell a story about their valuable experiences. Think about questions and concerns that plague parents. You could interview a psychologist on issues related to teenagers, to equip parents with the tools to understand their child and deal with a range of potential scenarios. Weave constructive solutions through your script and ensure every episode features a quality ‘take-away’ idea. Motivate and inspire parents with your ideas.

  3. Promote and engage
You’ve worked hard to create quality podcasts, so it’s time to show your content off. Feature a prominent call-to-action (CTA) on your website to attract parents and take the time to craft interesting titles and engaging show notes for each podcast. The next step is to share the podcasts across your social media channels and notify your current school community via email.

Your main aim is to generate trust within parents and your current community by showcasing your passion and commitment to providing the best education possible. Podcasting is a great way to do this as it shows your school is dedicated to educating parents on the latest innovative research and effective teaching strategies.
